At the end of last year, we invited you to let us know how we’re doing with our first Soften the Fck Up survey. The results of the survey drove our strategy session with the team in mid-January and I would love to share with you some of the findings from the survey.

The majority of the survey respondents were 20-34 years old although participants ranged from 14-19 years old to 35+ .

We asked you what are some of the issues currently on the website that you have been affected by. The top three issues were:

  • Stress
  • Feeling crap
  • Body Image

You also indicated that you want to see content on bipolar disorder, isolation, parenting, sexual assault, homelessness, emasculation, gender difference in stigma, self-esteem, guilt and information for non-blokey men.

When we asked how well are we doing, on a 5-point scale:

Blogs Videos Man facts Community Resource
Average ranking 3.7 4 4 3.6 3.8
Ranking range 2-5 2-5 2-5 2-5 1-5
Most rated 4 5 5 5 4

We divided the responses for site improvements into three categories. When asked what can our website improve on, you said:

  • Information: more personal accounts of experience or more specific advice
  • Design: less text on black backgrounds, and improved landing page for website
  • Engagement: resource provision, marketing and partnerships

After visiting the website, 81% said that you’ll pass soothing on to a friend, 52% said that you’ll start a conversation with somebody you thought was having trouble coping and 32% said that you’d consider your thoughts about mental health.

Overall, you reassured us that we’re doing well and what made us different is that we are “being real”, “getting your message out there”, “being open”, relatable and you love the language we’re using. More importantly, we’re glad that you’re engaged in the conversation together with us.

It has been an eventful seven months and even though we’re new and still at the very early stage, we’re very close to launching our strategy and we are already planning the Soften the Fck Up version 2! We’ve taken all your feedback into consideration and are working with some leading agencies, experts and of course our talented teams to make sure that we expand our reach and create the impact we want to see.

We are also looking for volunteers to launch the second version our campaign! We’ve finished filming and about to start redevelopment of our entire site! Let us know if you’d like to work with us, especially if you’re good with money, tech or good with details – mail@softenthefckup.com.au

Until the next blog, be tough, go soft. Start the tough conversation.
